FRANKFORT, Ky. -- New science education standards that call for greater focus on teaching the theories of evolution and climate change in Kentucky classrooms will be implemented despite a finding by a legislative panel that they're deficient, a spokesman for Gov. Steve Beshear said Wednesday.

The Administrative Regulations Review Subcommittee found the Next Generation Science Standards lacking and voted 5-1 Wednesday to send them back to the Department of Education for revamping.

FRANKFORT, Ky.  Gov. Steve Beshear has until Saturday to sign or veto a bill that would open the door to industrial hemp farming in Kentucky. So far, he hasn't said what he'll do.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- After years of pushing to legalize casino-style gambling in Kentucky, Gov. Steve Beshear sounds less than optimistic just days before the start of the next legislative session.

"I'm in conversations with legislators about the expanded gaming issue to see what, if anything, might be possible during the upcoming session," Beshear told The Associated Press in an interview this week. "We're faced with a short session and a lot of tough issues, and that may affect people's thinking about what we should do on that issue."
