Kentucky On Target To Start Keno In November

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky Lottery Corp. is expected to begin offering keno in November, a move intended to generate cash for college scholarships.

Lottery President Arch Gleason said the new game could generate as much as $30 million a year in revenue for the state when it is fully implemented. He predicted it could generate $8 million to $9 million in revenue for the state this fiscal year.

Tax On Lottery Sales Considered As Ky. Pension Fix

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Lawmakers are looking to the lottery for a source of revenue to shore up Kentucky's financially troubled pension system for government retirees.

Rep. Brent Yonts, chairman of the House State Government Committee that oversees pensions, said Friday the latest proposal would institute a 6 percent sales tax on lottery ticket sales and implement new games, which could include Keno.
