Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Senate President David Williams says he's running for governor next year, and Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer is his running mate.
Farmer says he decided to join the ticket after much discussion with his family.
"Certainly I've had options, which are a good thing. But this was, for me, a family decision. My family is very close to me. We're very close knit. I've mentioned just how much they mean to me. It was just - I'm at a period in my life where this was the right thing to do at this time."
Sen. Williams says the state is adrift and in need of a positive, pro-job agenda. Phil Moffett of Louisville is also seeking the Republican gubernatorial nomination, and Gov. Steve Beshear is running for re-election on the Democratic ticket.
