Wildcats Going on the Road in First Round of NIT

LEXINGTON, Ky. - UK's inconsistent play this year has left the men's basketball team without a chance to defend its national championship.

Kentucky becomes the 20th national champion to miss the tournament the following season, according to Stats LLC.

The 21-11 Wildcats aren't the only SEC team snubbed by the NCAA tournament selection committee.

Alabama and Tennessee also missed the cut, marking the first time in 39 years that the Wildcats, Crimson Tide and Volunteers were left out of the same NCAA tournament.

Because Rupp Arena is hosting teams competing in the NCAA tournament this week, UK will go on the road to face Robert Morris in the NIT. Game time is set for 7:30 Tuesday night.
