Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky football team has extended its streak of five consecutive bowl appearances with the announcement Sunday that the Wildcats will take on Big East Conference opponent, the Pittsburgh Panthers in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Saturday January, 8th.
UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart said in a news release, "We are excited to play in Birmingham, the home of the Southeastern Conference office and a historic stadium at Legion Field, and have the opportunity for our players, coaches, families and fans to enjoy a city that has a great football tradition and a place in our nation's history. We look forward to this event and the challenge of playing an outstanding team from the University of Pittsburgh."
The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 6 and 6 record, while the Panthers recorded a mark of 7 and 5; earning them a tie for the Big East Conference Championship.
This will mark the first time the schools have ever faced each other on the gridiron.
