UK Police Determine Campus Robbery Didn't Happen

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – University of Kentucky Police canceled a campus alert after they determined an early morning robbery on Friday never happened. The victim had reported to police that he was in the "blue" lot at Commonwealth Stadium near the bus shelter when he was approached by two white males wearing camouflage jackets who then beat him up and robbed him of medicine. UK Police Chief Joe Monroe says in the course of their investigation, including interviewing the alleged victim, they concluded his story didn't add up.

"The items that he claimed were stolen from him were found on his person. He did have an injury to his face that appeared to be a prior injury. So there was nothing that correlated with what he told our detectives that occurred in the location here on campus."

UK police believe the man was assaulted somewhere off campus and was not in the right frame of mind when he reported the alleged crime. They do not plan to file any charges in the incident.
