UK Police have taken a man into custody after he was caught on campus with a gun. Shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, a man was seen entering Buell Armory. An employee noticed that it appeared that the man was carrying a gun. UK Police were on the scene within 90 seconds.
Police say that individual was identified as Diontre Davis. UK Police said they were going to charge Davis with carrying a concealed weapon and criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. Davis already had an existing warrant for terroristic threatening.
Last spring, a UK student filed a complaint against Davis, who is not a UK student, due to harassing social media posts.
An alert was not issued, officials say, because the situation was handled so quickly. UK Chief of Police Joe Monroe says they were very aware of Mr. Davis and had been for months.
