With environmental and green organizations popping up across the Bluegrass, the challenge is often how to bring them together.
To that end, organizers launched a new kind of meeting Thursday…
"Today is the first ever Bluegrass Forever Green Sustainability Summit here in Central Kentucky," says Bobby Clark, chair of the Green Vision Committee for Bluegrass Tomorrow. "Many organizations touch on sustainability and our environment, but very few work together with others. So this is a concerted effort to bring those entities together, plot a future, and create Action Teams to get involved and get excited."
Among the players at the table today were the Bluegrass Youth Sustainability Council, Empower Lexington, and the Kentucky College & University Carbon Consortium.
The goal, by the end of the day, was to have each group complete a survey, form specific teams dedicated to particular issues, and go about attracting more environmental groups to the cause.
