A company that makes plastic compounds for the automotive industry is expanding its plant and adding workers in southwestern Kentucky.
Governor Steve Beshear's office says Riken Elastomers Corporation plans to more than double its facility in Hopkinsville. The Governor’s office says the Japanese-owned company is investing more than $22 million in the project. The expansion is expected to be completed in mid-2016 and create dozens of jobs.
State officials say Kentucky is home to more than 430 internationally based companies, including 170 from Asia. Last year, nearly a third of all new investment and 20 percent of jobs announced in the state were the result of foreign direct investment.
