Mayor Jim Gray has selected a director for the city’s newly created Office of Affordable Housing.
Richard McQuady’s experience in housing spans close to three decades – most of it with the Kentucky Housing Corporation, where he served as CEO. Gray says that experience will be “invaluable” to Lexington as the city decides how to spend $3M in affordable housing funds allocated earlier this year.
The Eastern Kentucky University graduate will work alongside another new office and director. Charlie Lanter was chosen to head up Lexington’s new Office on Homelessness Prevention and Intervention in May.
McQuady’s job description includes: working with an advisory board to study housing market conditions, proposing new programs, and working with partner agencies to measure the effectiveness of those programs.
If approved by the Urban County Council, McQuady will begin work in September.
