Newberry and Gray Debate at UK Forum

By Stu Johnson

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The two candidates for Lexington mayor fielded questions during a forum Wednesday night at the University of Kentucky. Challenger Jim Gray argues the city should pay more attention to its relationship with U-K and its neighbors.

"Really focusing on what we're gonna do then monitoring that plan and being accountable for it putting the numbers up on the board showing how we're doing this month compared to last month."

The candidates were also asked about long term planning for Lexington. Incumbent Jim Newberry says such plans may include a new form of mass transit.

"One of the ideas that was very high on all of those agendas was that of having light rail mass transit here."

Also at the Wednesday forum, Newberry and Gray argued over campaign contributions from Lexington law firm Stoll Keenon Ogden.
