More Former LCHS Students Say They Were Harassed Or Abused At The School

Five other former students of Lexington Catholic High School have come forward saying they left the school because they went to administrators about harassment and nothing was done to stop it.

At least one of the allegations dates back 20 years and is the most serious.  The woman claims she was assaulted while on a bus returning from a school sports event and that a school administrator told her “boys will be boys.”

Attorney Amos Jones represents Denisha Vinegar, her 14-year old son was sent racially charged text messages last month by a 17-year old football teammate.  The elder player threatened to lynch Vinegar because he was black.  The freshman tried to leave the school but was denied a transcript until tuition was paid.  That’s when Jones got involved and now he’s hearing from others who say similar things happened to them, showing a pattern of a “cover-up that goes back decades.”

The 17-year old has been charged with harassing communications and third degree terroristic threatening.  Adrian Wallace with the NAACP wants hate crime charges brought against him.

Amos Jones says he hopes the situation can bring changes but that so far the school hasn’t been willing to make any.

We have received a response from Dr. Steve Angelucci, President of Lexington Catholic High School that reads:

“The children we are entrusted to teach and mentor are at the heart of everything we do.  We are mindful of our responsibilities to them including to put their interests first and foster an environment of caring, love and acceptance.

We take the allegations made by Mr. Jones seriously.  We will investigate the incidents he described and how they were handled as well as make every attempt to contact the individuals who indicated they experienced bullying or other inappropriate behavior.

While it is very important that we examine the current incident, it is equally important that we do the same with these past alleged incidents.  We will undertake this effort with our eyes wide open.  It is vital that we know more – especially about these past allegations – than we do today before taking action or making further comment.”
