Lexington, KY – The decades-long effort to resurrect the venue that routinely showcased African American performers including Duke Ellington, the Temptations, and Ella Fitzgerald, culminates with a grand gala Saturday October 30th. Lyric Theatre and Cultural Center Board Chair Freda Meriwether says it will be a night for the history books.
"Finally after all these years the Lyric is finally back. And it just feels so good and the community is so excited just to see that building up, not looking torn down. It's a beautiful facility, and it's something that we all can be proud of."
Tickets for the program which will feature performances by Miki Howard, Ben Sollee, plus Tee Dee Young and Scandalous, can be purchased at the downtown arts center box office, or by visiting lexarts.tix.com.
