Kentucky’s health benefits exchange has seen more than 30,000 new customers during its extended enrollment period.
Gov. Steve Beshear added an extra 11 days to allow uninsured Kentuckians more time to choose a plan before financial penalties set in.
While a final tally won’t be available until next week, enrollments current stand at 402,000 – meaning 1 out of every 11 Kentuckians is insured through the program.
The phones stay open until midnight tonight. Those eligible for Medicaid, however, are allowed to enroll after the deadline. Those opting for private insurance will have to wait until the next enrollment period, scheduled for the fall.
