KY Book Fair To Feature George Harrison's Sister

Readers of all ages are being invited to peruse the offerings at the 33rd Annual Kentucky Book Fair this weekend.

The one-day event will feature more than 200 authors

Billed as Kentucky’s “premier literary event,” the Kentucky Book Fair is expected to bring up to 5,000 book lovers to the state Capital this Saturday. In addition to buying books and meeting authors, visitors will be able to take in a number of special programs on diverse topics – from fiction writing to a session featuring Louise Harrison, sister of Beatle George Harrison.

"She's going to be one of our speakers for a symposium we're going to have on Saturday afternoon," fair board representative Judith Gibbons tells Kentucky readers. "And all our symposiums are free and we really want you to come and just take advantage of this fabulous literary event."

She says the offerings will span all genres and age levels as usual, while the net proceeds will fund grants to Kentucky schools and public libraries to help with local book purchasing and related causes. So far the event has raised more than $368,000.

The Book Fair runs from 9 to 4:30 Saturday at the Frankfort Convention Center with an event focused on children’s books happening first on Friday from 9 to 2.
