Kentucky Women Get Four Seed in NCAA Tournament

By Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women's basketball team has drawn a No. 4 seed in the Spokane Region of the NCAA tournament a week after advancing to the Southeastern Conference tournament final.

The Wildcats (24-8, 11-5) will face No. 13 Hampton in Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday.

It's Kentucky's second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance under fourth-year head coach Matthew Mitchell. The Wildcats tied a school record with 11 SEC wins this season and advanced to their second-straight SEC tournament final, losing both years to Tennessee.

The Wildcats earned a No. 4 seed in last year's tournament, advancing to the regional finals for the second time in program history before losing to Oklahoma.

Kentucky beat LSU and Vanderbilt in the SEC tournament before a blowout loss to Tennessee, 90-65.
