Lexington primary voters had encountered few problems at the polls as of noon Tuesday, though reports just over a dozen vote-buying or bribery complaints have been lodged across the state.
In the first six hours of voting, reports of irregularities surfaced in 12 counties according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. At 3:30, the attorney general’s office registered 90 complaints via hotline – ranging from legal questions to electioneering concerns.
Officials with the AG’s office are immediately dispatched to handle voting issues.
As of mid-day, voting in Fayette County was running relatively smoothly. Technical glitches briefly delayed voting in the Buckhorn precinct. Workers received the complaint at 9:15 a.m. and the issue at St. Luke United Methodist Church was resolved in short order.
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes projected 30 percent turnout for the primary contests statewide.
Questions, complaints, and reports of suspicious activity can be reported to a number of authorities. Voters can call the attorney general’s fraud hotline at 1-800-328-VOTE, the State Board of Elections at 502-573-7100, or the county clerk’s office.
Polls close at 6:00 tonight.
