LEXINGTON, KY – The 23rd annual Kentucky Christmas Chorus was held last night for the first time at the UK Singletary Center for the Arts instead of Rupp Arena, and fans say they love the switch.

"Actually, I like it. It's a lot more intimate," says Anita Woods, who provided pre-show entertainment with the a cappella group Song of the Bluegrass.

The main show featured The Lexington Singers and the Kentucky Christmas Chorus Orchestra. The Lexington Singers Children's Chorus, the acoUstiKats and Paws & Listen were also featured performers.

Though the free tickets were sold out last week, only about a thousand people came. Several school groups with tickets couldn't attend because of the winter weather, leaving about five hundred seats empty.

Though in past years attendance sometimes topped five thousand, Woods says that one thousand people feels just right for a venue the size of the Singletary Center.

"This way, they have a full auditorium. In the big Rupp Arena, it kind of gets lost."
