Kentucky Allowing Youth to Use Tobacco Quit Line

By Associated Press

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- – Kentucky is opening up its help line to assist people who want to quit smoking to teenagers ages 15 to 17.

The Tobacco Quit Line had previously only been available to people 18 and older.

The telephone service offers counseling, support and information about local resources to people who want to give up tobacco use.

A statement from Gov. Steve Beshear's office says smoking among young people has declined in recent years but is still greater than among other populations.

The phone number is 1-800-QUIT NOW.
