Full Parole Board Reject's Karen Brown's Request For Release

Lexington Herald Leader @kentucky.com

Karen Brown will be up for parole again in 2020 after having her latest request for release denied by the state parole board. Brown is serving a life-sentence for murdering Michael Turpin in 1986.

Turpin’s wife Elizabeth was in a relationship with Brown at the time and was also convicted of murder.  Last week Brown told the parole board that she is reformed and is willing to pay restitution to the Turpin family.  "That night was a nightmare that I will live for the rest of my life. I have chosen not to forget it because the shame and guilt has led me to become a better person," she told board members. The decision was split last week so Brown will have to plead her cast to the full parole board Monday morning.

Michael Turpin’s family wants Brown to stay behind bars.  They begged the parole board to make her serve out her life sentence.  Turpin’s cousin pleaded "Please just do what Judge Angelucci said. It wasn't 30 years or 25 years or when you're reformed. It means life, life until you part. Let her rot in jail."

This is the second time Brown has been up for parole.
