Ft. Campbell Unit to Deploy to Afghanistan

WASHINGTON - The Department of Defense announced Friday that three units representing more than 9,600 personnel will deploy to Afghanistan this winter.

The 1st Brigade Combat Team from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell is one of those units. Combat teams from Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Drum, New York are also part of the latest rotation.

In June officials identified two other units from Ft. Campbell that will deploy to Afghanistan this fall.

Many soldiers at the Army post on the Tennessee-Kentucky border are learning about Afghan culture and this week they marked the holiday Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of Ramadan.
