Lexington, KY – When the Florida Gators battle the Alabama Crimson Tide for the Southeastern Conference Championship Saturday, a pioneering Former Kentucky Wildcat will officiate the game. SEC referee Wilbur Hackett was one of the first African-Americans to play in the conference and his story is included in a documentary by HBO Sports entitled "Breaking the Huddle", which chronicles the effort to desegregate southern football conferences. Alan Lytle chats with Hackett about his life and times.
