Former Lawmaker Steve Nunn Placed In Protective Custody

By Associated Press

Lexington, KY – Former state Rep. Steve Nunn has been placed in protective custody after being threatened by another inmate at the Fayette County jail, where he is awaiting trial on a charge of murdering his former fianc e.

Nunn wasn't injured, but Capt. Darrin Kelly said federal inmate Marshall Dewayne Williams threatened to hurt Nunn during a minor standoff Monday with corrections officers.

The incident lasted about an hour, Kelly told the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Nunn was beaten up by an inmate May 9 while the two were playing basketball. Kelly said Nunn was moved to protective custody after the second incident.

Nunn, the son of the late Gov. Louie B. Nunn, is charged in the 2009 death of Amanda Ross, who was found shot outside her home.
