Firefighters Respond To Three House Fires In Just Over An Hour

John Blacktop

Authorities say three separate fires gutted two homes in Lexington and damaged a duplex within 70 minutes as storms rolled through the area Tuesday.

Multiple news outlets report firefighters responded to a blaze at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday in Jessamine County after the residents saw sparks coming from their electrical outlets. Officials say a lightning strike sparked the blaze. No one was injured, but the home was destroyed.

Firefighters were called to another blaze at 5:43 p.m. off Versailles Road in Lexington. No one was home when the fire started, but the family's dog died. The cause of that fire is under investigation.

Around 6:29 p.m., firefighters were called to a blaze at a Radcliffe Road duplex. No one was home when the fire started, and its cause was not immediately known.
