Firefighter Toy Program Needs You

A Lexington group is looking for a building to use for their annual holiday toy program.

Every year, Lexington Firefighters and members of the Fraternal Order of Firefighters gather toys and give them to children in the community who normally wouldn’t have anything under the tree on Christmas day.  All those toys take a lot of room and that’s where you come in.  “We don’t own our own building so every year we rely on the community to donate a building for us to hold this toy drive in for the months of November and December” Major Lee Hayden said.  “We use that as our North Pole and we use that to receive toys, sort them and then distribute them.”

Hayden said the department is hopeful a space has been found, but so far nothing is confirmed and so the hunt continues.  If you have a large space that could potentially work, contact the Lexington Fire Department or the Fraternal Order of Firefighters.
