Fate Of Suspects In Marine's Murder Now In The Hands Of The Jury

The Price Family

Jury deliberations are underway in the trial of two men accused of murdering a Lexington Marine and injuring his wife during an attempted robbery. Qunicinio Canada and Dawan Mulazim are accused of shooting Jonathan and Megan Price when they left Austin City Saloon in June of 2014. Jonathan was killed, Megan survived.

Megan testified for the prosecution and said the couple had been out celebrating her birthday and were confronted by Canada and Mulazim in the parking lot outside the bar. She said both men had a gun and "I remember a barrel pointed at Jonathan's head," she said in court. "I heard a gun fire and I fell to the ground."

Another witness, Antonine Woods, took the stand June 20, saying Canada admitted to him that he had killed somebody and that he bragged about it. He told police, but recanted. He later said his initial statement was true but he denied it because he was allegedly beat up for talking to investigators.

During the trial, the defense tried to prove that police got the wrong men. They called a witness who claimed to have seen Mulazim at a strip club the night of the shooting.

Closing arguments finished last and the jury deliberated for nearly 3 and a half hours before taking a break. They will reconvene this morning at 9:00.
