Customers Picking Up On Grocery Pick Ups

Walmart

Is grocery shopping taking up more time out of your busy schedule than you’d like?  There’s an app for that, and a pick-up lane.

Big cities have been doing it for years.  Shoppers can go to an app on their smart phone or log in on their computer and with the click of a mouse, order groceries, run to the store and they’ll bring the bags to you.

Karlos Scott is the on-line grocery market coach at Walmart.  He said the old days of pushing a shopping cart through a crowded store and waiting in line is now a thing of the past in Kentucky.  “With the on-line grocery shopping you place your order from your smart phone or your tablet.  You reserve a time.  We shop for you.  We’ll call you 30 minutes ahead of time.  You’ll pull up, let us know when you’ve arrived and what area you’ve parked in, in the pick-up area.  We’ll deliver your groceries out to you, go over your order, load it up for you, you don’t even have to get out of the car and you’re on your way.  Five minutes”

The service is available at Walmart’s in four Kentucky counties.  The Nicholasville Road and Hamburg stores have it here in Lexington.  Kroger also brought the service to the state last January.  Scott says Walmart has already exceeded their goal of customers in the first week and he’s expecting more stores will follow suit within the next few years.
