Another prominent Lexingtonian says he wants to be the city’s next mayor.  Earlier this morning Urban County Councilman Kevin Stinnett officially threw his hat in the ring.

Afterward Stinnett laid out the reasons why he thinks he will be the ideal candidate to succeed Jim Gray:  "Number one, leadership.  My ability to balance the city budget, that's our number one job and make sure we're spending every tax dollar that we bring in effectively.  Protecting our citizens; (I've) worked with all of our police officers and firefighters for 14 years making sure we have a safe city," Stinnett said.

Former Vice Mayor Linda Gorton and small business owner Ike Lawrence are already in the race.  Other hopefuls have until next Tuesday to file their paperwork.
