Christians Bring Church-Like Atmosphere To The Capitol

Feb 18, 2014

One might have mistook the Capitol rotunda for a church Tuesday as believers rallied for the fourth annual Christians at the Capitol.

The event, which brings believers to Frankfort to pray with their legislators, included speeches by pastors, prayers, and a round of "God Bless America."

Nicholasville pastor Dan Barnes told the crowd Kentucky and the country are straying from Biblical principles.

"Folks, we want not just a temporary fix, but I want this mess healed. I want to be able to send my young daughters to the mall without worrying. I want my family to be safe," he said.

Organizer and Kentucky State Capitol Chaplain Lee Watts said the event has grown, going from about 66 people its first year to an estimated 800 this year.
