Women veterans will be celebrated in Kentucky during 2015. Gov. Steve Beshear has proclaimed it the Year of the Woman Veteran in the state.
The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs says it will spotlight the 33,000 women veterans in Kentucky throughout the year.
The department plans a statewide conference on women veterans in April and will hold events and present messages tied to women's specific concerns.
Commissioner Heather French Henry says the women are a great asset to the state as well as to the communities in which they live and work.
