ASPCA Story Told In New Exhibit at Kentucky Horse Park

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – The International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park unveils a new exhibit Tuesday: "Angels for Horses" chronicles the history and mission of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Museum Director Bill Cooke says it's a story well worth telling.

"It reveals a wonderful bit of history but it also does show that organizations such as this are still very much needed and just do a wonderful job in taking care of the animal that we all revere so much here at the park."

Artifacts showcased include the ASPCA's founding charter; a document some describe as the "Animals Declaration of Independence", plus a bronze medallion shield, and one of the first slings that was used to lift fallen and injured horses.
