Alumni Drive Construction Begins

Kentucky Forward

Major construction is now underway on the south side of the University of Kentucky to improve traffic flow.

Construction started Sunday on a project expected to ease traffic headaches for thousands who travel along Alumni Drive.  The $5 million realignment project will include the addition of a bicycle lane and walking lane. Traffic engineers tell say these features, among others, will not only make the area safer but less congested as well.  Two roundabouts will be placed on Alumni Drive. Both are expected to help the traffic flow to Commonwealth Stadium and the Arboretum.

According to traffic engineers, this change is expected to move quickly since students will be out for the summer. The entire project is expected to be completed by fall semester.
