Alltech Joins Kentucky Distillers Association

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – The Kentucky Distillers Association is expanding its membership to now include so-called craft distilleries. The first to join the rolls is Lexington-based Alltech, which produces its own malt-whiskey, and a bourbon-infused coffee beverage.

"We couldn't be more proud that Alltech is our first craft distillery member. They represent everything that's right about industry in Kentucky and how we're looking at things from a global perspective", said KDA President, Eric Gregory.

Alltech President and Founder Dr. Pearse Lyons, says joining the KDA will pay numerous dividends.

"Now we are on the bourbon trail now we're on the whiskey trail. Now when they have that run every year that twenty four to thirty-six hour run, we can genuinely start off at the at the distillery in Lexington, and finish at the distillery in Lexington."

The new craft membership is available to licensed Kentucky distillers that maintain an inventory of less than 25,000 barrels of distilled beverage spirits.
