Lexington, KY – Sitting pretty in the sixth position, "Pleasant Prince" is the favorite in Saturday's Bluegrass Stakes. Post positions were selected Wednesday morning at Keeneland. However, handicapper Mike Battaglia suspects "Odysseus" will be a strong contender as well.
The Bluegrass Stakes is the high point of Keeneland's Spring Meet, and a preliminary to the Kentucky Derby. However, stakes winners have not fared well in recent years. Running just a few weeks before the derby, observers say, stakes winners don't have enough time to recover from their Keeneland effort.
The race will be televised live Saturday afternoon at 5:30 on NBC.
