Josh James

Reporter / Webmaster

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now known as Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and Program Director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.

In 2003, he joined WUKY as a part-time reporter and weekend announcer. He's earned several awards from the Kentucky Associated Press, including Best Radio Documentary in 2005. An avid music fan raised on The Beatles and British Invasion rock, James also enjoyed a stint in the programming department, hosting WUKY's Rock & Roots from 11-1 pm weekdays.  He currently works as a reporter and webmaster for the station. When he's off duty, James enjoys songwriting, philosophy, and kicking back with his cat, Brooklyn.

UK Board Of Trustees Makes First Step Toward Privately-Managed Dorms

If the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees vote this afternoon is any indication, some UK students could be living in a residence hall developed and managed by a private company as early as 2013.

The board approved a plan to move ahead with the first step in what’s expected to be a massive $500 million dollar overhaul of its residence hall system by agreeing to partner with private company Education Realty Trust to build a 600-bed hall on Haggin Field.

Transylvania University’s first-ever local food fair attracted a larger crowd than expected Friday.

"You invest in a farm at the beginning of the growing season and then all through the growing season you get beautiful boxes of produce every week," Dossett said.

Women's Health Focus Of Kiosk Technology

Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear joined the University of Kentucky’s Dr Mary Lynne Capilouto to introduce a new tool designed to dispense health care information to women who may not otherwise receive it.

According the National Women’s Law Center in Washington, D.C., Kentucky’s female population ranks in the bottom third of almost every women’s health indicator. The Women’s Wellness Guide, a touch-screen kiosk located UK’s Markey Cancer Center, is intended to be one step toward remedying that problem with technology.
