KY American Water Hands Out Grants To Enviro Groups

Lexington, KY – The money will be used to improve the environment and to aid students who want to learn more about environmental issues. The Raven Run nature center got ten thousand dollars for its new laboratory. The Friends of Wolf Run got eight thousand, eight hundred and fifty dollars for a program to explore springs in the Wolf Run watershed. In just four years Kentucky American Water has given nearly eighty thousand dollars for various Central Kentucky environmental projects.

Frankfort, KY – Terry Holliday says he's in Frankfort and looking forward to working with others to help all children become productive citizens. The state's new education commissioner says he's already spoken with over 20 local superintendents. Senate Candidates Spar At Fancy Farm

Graves County, KY – Last Monday, citing difficulty raising campaign cash, U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning announced he would not seek a third term. His withdrawal leaves next year's Senate race wide open, with at least seven people already vying for the post. On Saturday, all seven made their way to a little farming community in far Western Kentucky, not far from the Mississippi River.

KY Atty General Sides With Newspaper

Frankfort, KY – In early June, Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer reporter Joy Campbell sought access to records concerning the job performance of Paula Gastenveld in her role as president of Owensboro Community and Technical College.

In May, Gastenveld was suddenly removed from her post and the newspaper says the public deserves to know why. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System provided the newspaper with the bulk of Dr. Gastenveld's performance evaluation, but not all.
