Students Get Hands On Lesson At Archaeology Site

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – Hundreds of students from four Fayette County elementary schools are working a real archaeological dig at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary.

The fourth and fifth-graders are using trowels and sifters to find artifacts at the Prather House, a 19th century plantation house near the nature sanctuary.

Tickets On Sale For Men's NCAA Sweet 16

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – Basketball fans who plan to follow the Kentucky men's basketball team up to Syracuse, NY for the third round of the NCAA tournament will need to get their ticket request in soon.

Season ticket holders and K fund members can request tickets through the UK ticket office until noon Monday. At that point UK will accept requests from the general public based on availability.

One Ky. Democrat Not Celebrating Healthcare Bill

WASHINGTON – The only Kentucky Congressman to vote in favor of the healthcare overhaul that passed the U.S. House Sunday night was Louisville Democrat John Yarmuth. After a 219-212 vote, the bill is one step closer to getting President Obama's signature.

Yarmuth calls it the most important vote he's ever cast, saying the measure is "the right thing" for the country.

Clock is Ticking On Legislative Session

Frankfort, KY – Week eleven of the 2010 session ended with the Senate passing a new six-year road plan, then deciding to pull the bill back and return it to committee. Senate Transportation Committee Chairman Ernie Harris says the House adjourned early, so there was nowhere to send the bill.

Instant Racing Bill On Life Support

Frankfort, KY – Georgetown Sen. Damon Thayer is putting his instant racing bill on hold in the Kentucky General Assembly. The bill had been returned to Thayer's committee for radical surgery, but in the face of mounting opposition, Thayer didn't call it. Thayer still believes Gov. Beshear has the authority to use the regulatory process to bring instant racing to Kentucky.

GED Enrollment On The Rise

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- – More Kentuckians are enrolling in adult education programs to help them earn their GED. The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education reports enrollment in basic, secondary, and ESL courses is up 16 percent from this time last year.
