Tax Incentives Approved For "Ark Park"

Frankfort, KY – A Bible-belt state hoping to land a biblical theme park that includes a full-size replica of Noah's Ark approved tax incentives Thursday to help pay for it.

The Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority voted unanimously to grant more than $40 million in tax rebates for the $172 million project that's otherwise being financed by a group of unidentified private investors.

StoryCorps Parks Trailer in Downtown Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The national organization known for its emotional recordings of conversations between friends and family members has set up a mobile recording booth in central Kentucky.

StoryCorps started collecting interviews in downtown Lexington Thursday at its Airstream trailer parked at Main and Upper Streets.

Legislators Weigh In On Gubernatorial Race

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The top two leaders of the Kentucky House are assessing the outcome of Tuesday's gubernatorial primary.

Democratic House Speaker Greg Stumbo and Minority Floor Leader Jeffrey Hoover have been studying the counties captured by Senate President David Williams, who grabbed the Republican nomination.

Stumbo believes the map benefits Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear, who's seeking a second term.

Training Exercise Prepares First Responders for Earthquake

LEXINGTON, Ky. – First responders and medical crews had a busy morning at Lexington's Blue Grass Airport Wednesday.

Patients were loaded onto stretchers and transported from a Kentucky Air National Guard plane to a Mustang Aviation hangar, where doctors worked to quickly assess their injuries from an earthquake in western Kentucky.

"I got another belly trauma here guys!" yelled a doctor.

Legg To Seek Recanvass in Secy. of State Race

Louisville, KY – Republican Hilda Legg is planning to ask the state to recanvass votes in the razor-thin election results in the GOP primary for secretary of state in Kentucky.

Bill Johnson finished ahead of Legg by about 1,100 votes with 100 percent of precincts reporting statewide in unofficial results tallied by The Associated Press in Tuesday's election.

Legg said Wednesday she's looking for assurances that every vote was reported accurately.

Paul Proposes Eliminating Gasoline Tax

U.S. Senator Rand Paul

Washington, DC – U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is proposing elimination of the gasoline tax to ease the financial burden on Americans.

Paul said he intends to make the proposal an amendment to any energy bill that comes before the Senate. He proposes offsetting the lost revenue with a corresponding reduction in foreign aid and corporate welfare.
