WUKY Reporter's Departure Does Not Resolve Lawsuit

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The departure of Brenna Angel from WUKY has by no means resolved the lawsuit between the former reporter and University of Kentucky Healthcare. 

Angel sought details of a review of the pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program at UK Children’s Hospital.  Her requests were denied, UK HealthCare citing concern for federal health care privacy laws.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky Children’s Hospital treats some of the sickest and smallest patients from across central and eastern Kentucky. But for the past several weeks, pediatric heart surgeries have been referred to other hospitals. As Brenna Angel reports, UK Healthcare is reviewing its program, but the reasons why are unclear.

UK Heart Transplant Support Group Celebrates Valentine's Day

Members of a heart transplant support group met for a special Valentine's Day celebration at UK hospital Tuesday.

"Organ donation saves lives," Dr. Charles Shelton, a recovering heart transplant patient at UK, ended his speech at the Valentine's Day get-together of the Heart to Heart support group. They meet to share stories, update each other, and become part of a community. Peter Forman has undergone multiple heart procedures at UK and says there's no substitute for one-on-one conversation with people who have first-hand experience.
