LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Following a news briefing on football crowd control Friday WUKY asked UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart for his opinion on whether the school should continue to publicly honor former basketball Wildcat Richie Farmer.  His jersey currently hangs in the rafters of Rupp Arena as part of the 1992 Unforgettables Team.

Judge Sentences Former Wildcat To Two Years On Sex Abuse Charges

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter has been sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving an underage girl.

Lexington media report Judge Ernesto Scorsone handed down the sentence Thursday despite a request from Porter's attorney for probation.

Porter apologized for his actions and his attorney, Jim Lowry, called him a "quality individual" who wasn't likely to reoffend.

Noel, Goodwin UK's Latest NBA First Rounders

BROOKLYN, NY -- Two former Kentucky Wildcats are waking up this morning as NBA first round draft picks.  Forward Nerlens Noel had to wait a little longer than expected, but New Orleans made him the sixth overall pick, then later dealt him to Philadelphia.

"It's been whirwind but I'm definitely staying positive," Noel told NBA Network reporter Craig Sager.  "I'm very blessed and fortunate to be in this position...I'm definitely looking for ward to getting to Philadelphia and just playing ball," Noel said.

Kentucky Forward Kyle Wiltjer Says He's Transferring

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky forward Kyle Wiltjer is transferring to find a "significant" role elsewhere.

The 6-foot-10 Wiltjer, who played with the Canadian development national team this summer, posted a letter on Kentucky's athletic department website Monday afternoon, saying he will seek a situation to help him "compete the way I know I can. ... wherever that may be."

Nerlens Noel Leaving UK Early To Enter NBA Draft

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel has announced he will forego his sophomore season and enter his name in this year's NBA Draft.

A release from UK Athletics says after talking it over with family, and Coach John Calipari, Noel decided to put his name in for the draft.  Noel is projected by most experts to be a top five first round pick.

UK's Noel Out For The Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel is out for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee.

Noel tore his ACL on Tuesday night when No. 25 Kentucky lost at Florida. An MRI on Wednesday revealed the injury.

The 6-foot-10 forward will have surgery in the two or three weeks. The projected recovery period is six to eight months.

UK Men Blow Big Lead, Hang On To Beat Vandy 60-58

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Kyle Wiltjer's jumper with 1:57 left put Kentucky ahead to stay, and the Wildcats kicked off their Southeastern Conference schedule Thursday night by holding off Vanderbilt 60-58 after blowing a 16-point lead.

The Wildcats (10-4) also seemed to get a bit of help from officials in the final seconds.
