Kentucky Women Beat Georgia To Reach SEC Final

DULUTH, Ga. -- Jennifer O'Neill sank 3-pointers on each end of a 15-0 run early in the second half that gave Kentucky the lead, and the Wildcats rolled past Georgia 60-38 on Saturday night to earn a spot in the SEC tournament championship game.

DeNesha Stallworth had 18 points for No. 7 Kentucky (27-4), which will face No. 19 Texas A&M in Sunday night's final. The Wildcats, who lost to Tennessee in the 2010 and 2011 championship games, will play for their first championship since 1982.

UK Men Get Badly Needed Win Against Florida

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky faces a difficult road toward an NCAA tournament bid, but the Wildcats rallied past No. 11 Florida 61-57 Saturday to help their cause with the committee.


The Gators looked ready to hand a final blow to the Wildcats' postseason hopes after a 19-5 run provided a 57-50 lead with 7 1/2 minutes remaining. Kentucky responded by scoring the final 11 points of the game, boosting the Wildcats' NCAA prospects.

UK's Noel Out For The Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel is out for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee.

Noel tore his ACL on Tuesday night when No. 25 Kentucky lost at Florida. An MRI on Wednesday revealed the injury.

The 6-foot-10 forward will have surgery in the two or three weeks. The projected recovery period is six to eight months.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 2012 baseball post-season did not end well for the Cincinnati Reds as they fell to the eventual World Champs, the San Francisco Giants, in the National League Division Series.  But the setback didn’t dampen the spirits of hundreds of fans who crowded into the Lexington Center on Sunday for the club’s annual Winter Caravan.  

The event featured Reds broadcasters Jeff Brantley & Jim Kelch, third baseman Todd Frazier and top minor league prospect Billy Hamilton.

UK Men Blow Big Lead, Hang On To Beat Vandy 60-58

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Kyle Wiltjer's jumper with 1:57 left put Kentucky ahead to stay, and the Wildcats kicked off their Southeastern Conference schedule Thursday night by holding off Vanderbilt 60-58 after blowing a 16-point lead.


The Wildcats (10-4) also seemed to get a bit of help from officials in the final seconds.
