Louisville Trustees Fire Athletic Director Tom Jurich

Louisville trustees have fired athletic director Tom Jurich in the wake of its involvement in a national federal investigation of college basketball.  The Board of Trustees voted 10-3 on Wednesday to fire Jurich after 20 years as the school's AD. Jurich, 61, had been placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 27 by interim university President Greg Postel. Louisville's Athletic Association fired men's basketball coach Rick Pitino on Monday.

Vito “Babe” Parilli, the quarterback who led the University of Kentucky football team to the Orange, Sugar and Cotton Bowls in the 1949-51 seasons and was eventually enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame, has passed away at the age of 87.

Marcus Carson and Tristan Pompey knocked in runs for Kentucky, which made its first super regional appearance but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell to the Louisville Cardinals for a second consecutive day, scoring just four runs in the two games. (5-2 Friday and 6-2 Saturday).  They end the season at 43-23.

Diallo Announces He Will Return To Play For Kentucky

Kentucky freshman guard Hamidou Diallo has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return to school to begin playing with the Wildcats.

Sometimes it pays to have a fresh horse.  Cloud Computing skipped the Kentucky Derby, while eventual winner Always Dreaming and Classic Empire mixed it up in the mud at Churchill Downs.  Two weeks later, Cloud Computing pounced on those two horses in the Preakness, pulling off an upset victory at 13-1 odds Saturday. He became the first horse to skip the Derby and win the second leg of the Triple Crown since filly Rachel Alexandra in 2009.
