While Lexington drivers are seeing more pavement now thanks to government and contracted road crews, frigid temperatures threaten to slow that progress. And officials are keeping their eyes on the mercury.

Starting Monday, Fayette County public school students will have to wait a little longer for the bell to ring at the end of the day.

Fayette County public school students could see their school days extended by 15 minutes for the rest of the year to make up for snow days.

Kentucky public school students could see their school year shortened by up to 10 days under a proposal in the Kentucky House.

A plan proposed by Fayette School Superintendent Tom Shelton would use Presidents Day, Feb. 17, and March 21 as makeup days.
