Medicaid Managed Care

Lawmakers in Frankfort heard from mental health advocates Wednesday about the effects of the state’s switch to Medicaid managed care.

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Auditor Adam Edelen is expressing concerns about the Kentucky’s readiness to extend Medicaid coverage to 300,000 more Kentuckians next year. A review of the state’s managed care system shows an 8 percent drop since 2011 in Medicaid providers.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - HealthFirst Bluegrass is announcing a number of cutbacks – including the elimination of 21 positions – as the organization works to meet the requirements of the new health care reform law, but nine new positions will also be created.

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Gov. Steve Beshear has vetoed a bill sponsored by House Speaker Greg Stumbo that would require prompt payment in the Medicaid managed care system.

FRANKFORT, Ky.  --  A Medicaid managed care provider will terminate its contract with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services after only a year, a move that would cut some 200 jobs in Lexington.
