Lexington Herald-Leader reporter Linda Blackford talked with Josh James about Thursday's long-awaited review of a troubled UK Healthcare program.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - UK HealthCare announced Friday the overall mortality rate for the program averaged 5.8 percent from 2008 through 2012, with 4.5 in 2008 being the lowest and 7.1 last year the highest.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The push to have UK release the mortality numbers began in late 2012 when the university denied an open records request by former WUKY reporter Brenna Angel. Still, despite the release of mortality rate data Friday, the matter remains tied up in court.

LEXINGTON, Ky - The University of Kentucky is responding to a story aired on CNN about Kentucky Children's Hospital's  suspension its pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program.

UK Files Appeal in Open Records Case

Apr 26, 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky has filed an appeal in a case involving an open records request made by WUKY.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Attorney General’s office has ruled that the University of Kentucky violated the Open Records Act by withholding information requested by WUKY. Reporter Brenna Angel has the latest into the investigation of the pediatric heart surgery program at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky Children’s Hospital treats some of the sickest and smallest patients from across central and eastern Kentucky. But for the past several weeks, pediatric heart surgeries have been referred to other hospitals. As Brenna Angel reports, UK Healthcare is reviewing its program, but the reasons why are unclear.
