Capitol Dome Redux Moving Right Along

Frankfort, KY – One-hundred-76-feet of scaffolding rises from the rotunda floor, topped by a circular, plywood platform the diameter of the inner dome. That's where Jerry Hazletine and his crew from Midwest Maintenance are scraping, patching and preparing the dome for fresh paint and new lighting. "We just found a lot of paint peeling. We've got one plaster repair there that's pretty major. It's not a water issue. It's an old plaster patch, is all that is."

Fewer Fatalities On KY Roadways This Year

Frankfort, KY – As of Sunday, 702 people have died on Kentucky roadways this year. That's 40 less than reported for the same period last year.

Five-hundred-68 of the fatalities were in motor vehicles. Thirty-five were pedestrians. Five were bicyclists.

KY Supco Says State Can Keep Releasing Inmates Early

Frankfort, KY – More than seven thousand Kentucky prison inmates and parolees are now free under the early release program, which is based on parole credits. And the Justice Cabinet says the program has saved the commonwealth millions of dollars.

KY Supco Ruling Puts Executions On Hold

Frankfort, KY – Death row inmates Ralph Baze, Thomas Bowling and Brian Keith Moore say the state should not be able to carry out executions by lethal injection until the protocol is spelled out in an administrative regulation.

A lower court agreed and ordered the Corrections Cabinet to publish the protocol, but later vacated the decision. So, Bowling, Baze and Moore appealed to the Supreme Court.
