Lexington Visitors Center

The Lane Report

The Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau is staying quiet on the resignation of its president, Jim Browder.

The Lexington Visitors Center set a new record in 2013. The number of visitors jumped by more than 100 percent over the previous year.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Sometimes a change of scenery is all a business needs to take off…case in point, the Lexington Visitors Center.   In May of 2012 the local tourism office moved its headquarters from Vine Street to a temporary spot inside the Victorian Square Shoppes, and then permanently set up shop there a few months later.

LVC manager Julie Schickel says in the first six months of 2013, more than 10,000 visitors have checked out the new digs…that represents a 170% increase over the same period in 2012.
