LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- Democrat James Kay won a three-way special election Tuesday to fill a vacancy in the Kentucky House, spoiling a bid by Republicans to pick up a seat in their quest to win control of a chamber long dominated by Democrats.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Voters in Woodford county and parts of Fayette and Franklin counties head to the polls today to select a replacement for state Representative Carl Rollins, who stepped down to take a higher education post.

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Democrat James Kay is leading the way when it comes to fundraising in the 56th District state House race. Campaign representatives say Kay raised more than $88,000 in the first reporting period for the June 25th special election.

VERSAILLES, Ky. - Republicans hold the majority in the Kentucky state Senate and they’re looking to gain control in the House, where Democrats outnumber the GOP 55-45.

A Woodford County resident says that shift starts with him being elected to the 56th District.
