Winter Storm Prompts Early School Dismissals

The approaching winter storm has prompted Fayette and other county public school officials to dismiss classes earlier than scheduled.

680 Fayette County students will compete in the 30th annual District Science Fair this weekend at Bryan Station High School.

The threat of inclement weather has prompted officials at Fayette County Public Schools to cancel a number of events.

Three Fayette County schools are saying goodbye to traditional reports cards. 

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Newly released statewide testing data shows some overall improvement for Fayette County Public Schools.

LEXINGTON, KY-- Fayette County Public Schools played host to a large group of state principals, superintendents, and other administrators earlier today.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fayette County school buses are carrying placards this year urging students to report cases of bullying when they see an incident happening.

The signs were placed on the buses when classes started last week and are located at the front of the vehicle near the driver. The location was chosen for easy visibility.

LEXINGTON, Ky.-- It’s time to hit the books once again in Fayette County.  As Karyn Czar reports the second largest school district in the state is looking to the state's flagship university  to help them develop a new way of learning.

Many of us may remember straight even rows of desks and chairs when we went to school but the settings and structures for learning is changing.  Take the new STEAM Academy on sixth street.  Following the pledge of allegiance were greeted with a rendering of My Old Kentucky Home by the UK opera singers.
