Lit Cigarette To Blame For Fatal House Fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. - An improperly disposed of cigarette is to blame for a house fire in South Lexington that claimed the lives of three people early Wednesday.  Battalion Chief Ed Davis says investigators from the fire department’s arson division, Lexington Police, and the State Fire Marshal’s office made that determination after combing the charred remains of the single story ranch-style home on Buckingham Lane.

Three People Killed In Early Morning Fire

Crews spent several hours Wednesday morning fighting a house fire on Buckingham Lane that claimed three lives.

LEXINGTON, Ky. –  Investigators are expected to be on the scene most of the day combing through the charred remains of a house fire on Buckingham Lane in Lexington.  The blaze early Wednesday morning claimed three lives.  Battalion Chief Ed Davis says the victims were an older couple and their paraplegic son.

“There is a possibility that medical conditions could have hindered their escape from the fire.  We don’t know that yet and again we’re investigating that.  That will all be a part of the investigation.”
